Thank you for constantly supporting my Urushi work, alongside calligraphy and pen making. I run a small Urushi studio in my living room, which also doubles as my calligraphy work space. I don’t make brand new Urushi fountain pens, but accept commissions to breathe new life into your old pens with Urushi coat. I love Raden (mother of pearl inlay) and Kawari-nuri techniques.
How to order?
If you are interested in my Urushi work for your fountain pen, please fill out the form. I will contact you to confirm your order within 24 - 48 hours. Usually it takes about three (3) months for me to complete an Urushi design on a fountain pen. Sometimes, it takes longer as Urushi requires humidity and special care to cure properly. If the process appears to be taking more time than planned, I will inform you.
If you are in the United States, please ship your pen to my shipping box in Portland, OR. The shipping company collects my packages from the the US and delivers to me every two weeks.
If you are from outside the United States, please ship the pen directly to my address in Hanoi.
*I will provide the shipping address after order has been finalized and confirmed.
Once the pen arrives, I will start the Urushi process.
Pricing
Kawari-nuri pen starts at $350 and Raden pen starts at $450. Additional fee of $100 if genuine gold is applied.
Payment
I only accept payments by credit card. I take 50% deposit and the other 50% plus shipping fee will be collected when the pen is finished. Deposit payment link will be sent via email.
Shipping
When the pen is done, I will send you photos of the final product to confirm before shipment by DHL.
Fixed shipping fee of $35 is added to final payment. Tracking is provided in the order fulfillment email.
Notes
Urushi is a truly special finish when applied to fountain pens. Each pen will be unique on its own, and will never be the same as others. Natural materials and different conditions lead to different appearance of the pen.
